KwikX ("we", "us", or "our") operates the KwikX mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the App.
Personal Information: When you create an account, we collect your full name, email address, phone number, date of birth, and country of residence.
Identity Verification (KYC): To comply with anti-money laundering regulations, we collect government-issued ID documents and biometric data (selfie photos) via our KYC provider Smile ID. This data is processed by Smile ID under their own privacy policy.
TrueDepth Camera & Facial Data:
On supported iOS devices, the App uses the TrueDepth camera exclusively during identity verification (KYC) to perform a liveness check — confirming that a real person (not a photo or mask) is present. The TrueDepth camera captures facial geometry data solely for this liveness detection purpose.
Collection: The App collects facial geometry data (facial landmark positions and depth map data) via the TrueDepth camera. This data is captured only when the user actively initiates the identity verification flow and grants camera permission. No facial data is collected passively or in the background.
Use: Facial data is used exclusively to perform a liveness check during KYC identity verification — to confirm the user is a real, live person. It is not used for facial recognition, user identification, tracking, profiling, advertising, or any other purpose.
Disclosure & Sharing: Facial data is transmitted securely (via TLS encryption) to our KYC provider, Smile ID (Smile Identity Inc.), solely for liveness verification. No facial data is shared with any other third parties, advertisers, data brokers, or analytics providers.
Storage & Retention: Facial data is not stored on the user's device or on KwikX servers. It is processed in real time and discarded after the liveness check is complete. Smile ID (Smile Identity Inc.) may retain the verification result (pass/fail) and associated reference images for no longer than 5 years from the date of collection, in accordance with their Data Retention Policy and applicable regulatory requirements (KYC/AML). After the retention period, data is securely deleted or irreversibly anonymized. Raw TrueDepth depth-map data is not persisted by KwikX or Smile ID.
If you enable biometric login (fingerprint or Face ID), that authentication is processed entirely on your device by the operating system and is separate from the TrueDepth-based liveness check described above. KwikX does not access Face ID data.
Financial Information: Bank account details, mobile money account numbers, and transaction history required to facilitate cross-border transfers.
Device Information: Device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and push notification tokens for delivering transaction updates.
Biometric Authentication Data: If you enable biometric login (fingerprint or face recognition), authentication is processed locally on your device using your device's secure hardware. We do not store or transmit your biometric authentication data to our servers. This is separate from the TrueDepth-based liveness check described above, which is used only during identity verification.

We retain your personal and transaction data for as long as your account is active and as required by applicable financial regulations (typically 5–7 years for transaction records). You may request deletion of your account and personal data by contacting us, subject to legal retention requirements.
Facial & biometric data: KwikX does not store facial data. Smile ID (Smile Identity Inc.) may retain verification results and reference images for no longer than 5 years, after which data is securely deleted or irreversibly anonymized. See Smile ID's Data Retention Policy for details. Raw TrueDepth depth-map data is not persisted by KwikX or Smile ID.

The App is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that a child has provided us with personal data, we will take steps to delete it.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy in the App or via email. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
